How can I be sure that counselling, or psychotherapy is right for me?

If you have not experienced any form of counselling, or therapy before then the idea can be rather daunting. It is important to consider all options that might be open to you e.g. through your GP practice, via the NHS or with charitable organisations such as Cruse.

How would I know who the right counsellor is for me?

Talking to someone you know who has experienced counselling, or psychotherapy and can recommend a therapist to you can be very helpful. A recommendation by "word of mouth" is always reassuring.

How much do you charge?

My usual charges are £35 per session and each session lasts just under an hour. I also operate a sliding scale of fees for those who are on a low wage or receive benefits of any kind.

How many sessions will I need?

Some people like to arrange a set number of sessions, while others need to take one step at a time. Some people know that their issues cannot be explored, or resolved quickly. The number of sessions and the way that I work with each person will differ according to their individual needs.

What Qualifications and Experience do you have?

I qualified with the National Association of Counsellors, Hypnotherapists and Psychotherapists in 1989 and am also a general member of the West Midlands Institute of Psychotherapy. I receive regular referrals from local authorities, local GP's, mental health services and private sector providers.
